Zimmer is an eight-minute experimental film exploring improvisation and physical intuition in the creative process. Three performers inhabit an enclosed square space, their relationship to one another kept ambivalent. The camera - itself a fourth protagonist - is drawn into the action, while a live jazz drummer scores the film as an equal participant, commenting and responding to the performers in real time. The work draws on Christopher Dell's theory of improvisational intelligence, and includes pop culture references like David Lynch's Black Lodge, Francis Bacon's Blue Man, Kubrick's The Shining, and Iñárritu's Birdman.
